Basingstoke Wellness and a Medik8 Hydrating Facial

Basingstoke Wellness, a name that a few weeks ago was completely new to me until being tagged in an Instagram post of theirs by my Sister in law … who is also a fellow skincare freak. I looked into their instagram and was interested to see their treatment and product range but more so in the fact they are a local business in Basingstoke. I was then invited by the guys behind the company Michael and Joshua to come in and try out a treatment to see what I thought of it, especially as I do love trying various brands of skincare!

Located in Basing View, in a treatment room which was lovely and relaxing, yet airy and bright, Basingstoke Wellness provides a range of treatments including Facials, Peels, IPL, Massage, Microneedling, Microdermabrasion, Waxing, Manicures and Pedicures. They are also an approved and trained stockist of Medik8 products.

I was welcomed and the appointment began with the much expected medical form, which was discussed upon completion and I have to say I felt super at ease even prior to the treatment, probably thanks to the fact we were chatting so much about makeup and skincare … let’s face it, I can talk about that for days!!

Joshua is an Aesthetic Therapist with years of experience and certified qualifications are displayed in the treatment room. The product range of choice for treatments is Medik8 in which he is fully trained aswell as also being CIBTAC Level 4 trained in Chemical peels. In addition to the experience and qualifications he made me feel completely at ease that he knew his products and was confident in what he was doing which I think is also super important when trusting someone to apply a sequence of products your face!

I opted to have the Medik8 Hydrating Facial as I am trying to focus heavily on hydration in my skin especially at this time of year!

The Facial

What can I say? Despite the fact I chatted most of the way through because I am so interested in the products I felt so relaxed and the treatment itself was amazing. Starting with (all Medik8 products) Eyes & Lips Micellar Cleanse, Cream Cleanse, Bamboo Micro Polish and Daily Refresh Balancing Toner to thoroughly clean away anything that may be present and gently exfoliate my skin. The next step I immediately commented smelt absolutely amazing which was a massage oil. I love the use of oils in skincare. I use one pretty much most evenings! The facial continued with an Intensive Treatment cream mask and Post Treatment cream. The final two products are ones I’m keenly interested in. C Tetra Eye and Retinol 3TR. The C-Tetra Eye is a Vitamin C which is a lightweight serum designed to help smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I mentioned to Joshua that Retinol is something I want to try but have been a little apprehensive to say the least! He checked I was ok with it but wanted to complete the treatment with the Retinol 3TR which is a 0.3% Vitamin A serum and claims to be effective but with low irritation. Following the treatment I felt completely relaxed and my skin felt and looked glowing and healthy. (I even stopped at my Sister in laws house on my way home to say ‘LOOK AT MY SKINhaha!)

I was handed a Medik8 gift bag with some sample products to try (much to my excitement … if you already follow me, you know what I’m like!!) Joshua went through the products explaining how and when to use them and told me about the other products that they stock.

I will write a follow-up post with the samples, what I was given and how I am getting on with them and what I would compare them to, but here’s a peek at the contents!
