December Empties

The final empties post of the year on the final day of the year!  I think this December’s post has the most empties of all of the ones I have written so far!

So here’s what I used up in December…..

Dior Forever Foundation

Dior Forever Foundation

This was one foundation where I was glad that I took a sample home rather than purchase the suggested shade.  Dior staff ‘matched’ my skin to one of their shades using a shade matching device which suggested I was shade 020.  This was applied and I am never convinced under shop lighting that the shade is accurate so I asked for a sample to take away.  I am glad I did given as soon as I got out of the shop and into normal light I could tell it was too dark for me!  I did however go back the next day to get a sample of 010 to try at home and this turned out to be the perfect shade so I subsequently bought it.

Would I repurchase?

Yes.  This foundation is relatively light in comparison to my trusty Double Wear so it is something I would use again both during the day or in the evening.  In terms of longevity I still don’t think much can beat Double Wear but with a primer and setting powder, this foundation does last very well.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo

IMG_6954

One of my New York purchases was this Living Proof dry shampoo.  It smells amazing and works really well as a pick-me-up for my hair in between washes.

Would I repurchase?

Yes and No.  If you have the budget to spend £23 on dry shampoo then do it!  It is a fab product, works really well, doesn’t leave any white residue in the hair and leaves it feeling and smelling lovely.  This was a small size and can’t remember what I paid in $ but if I was to buy a full size can, I am not sure £23 is a price I would pay personally but everyone is different.  I can’t let the price detract from the fact that this is a great product.  It’s merely a matter of preference on where you like to invest your money and for me £23 on a dry shampoo is not where I invest.

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

My eyes are always dry 😦 unfortunately and I am always looking out for eye creams that will help combat the dry skin under my eyes (leave suggestions below if you have any!!!!)    The pep-start eye cream is one that so far I have had a few tubes of but haven’t actually bought any as they’ve always been in gift with purchase packages!  I do like this cream.   It is designed to de-puff, hydrate and brighten the eye area in the mornings, which I feel it does do.   It is thicker than an eye serum but thinner than a usual eye cream but I like how light it feels on the skin.  It is absorbed easily and doesn’t affect any makeup that is applied over it.

Would I repurchase?

Yes.  I won’t be for now as I have a few other eye products that I am trying to use up but this is one I do like and the tube is convenient and also hygienic.  A lot of eye creams I have used have been in pots.  Whilst I never use a finger to get the cream out of the pot and I always use a cotton tip, having a tube is obviously better as the air doesn’t get to the product as easy as it does when it is in a jar so the packaging certainly gets a thumbs up!

Estee Lauder, Advanced Night Repair Serum

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repiar

Advanced Night Repair is a classic Estee Lauder serum is suitable for all skin types and claims to be ideal for multiple signs of ageing, age prevention, dryness, dehydration, lines and wrinkles, dullness and loss of radiance.  I find this serum to be calming on the skin.  If I have used acids in my routine, this is a great serum to follow it with.   It is a great general anti-ageing serum and can also be mixed with foundation if you want to use it during the day!

Would I repurchase?

Yes, I already have a bottle waiting to be opened!

Clinique Fresh Pressed

Clinique Fresh Pressed Booster

I have used this a couple of times now.  It isn’t something I use every day as a rule, but as a seven day boost for my skin when I feel it needs it.  I have covered this product already in a review so check out this post Clinique Fresh Pressed Vitamin C for more info on that.  The serum itself lasts longer than the suggested 7 days that the kit is for so the face wash sachets were used up about a week before this ran out.

Would I repurchase?

I have just found an absolute bargain on this product!  In the Boots sale, a kit containing 2 week’s worth of the Boost serum and cleanser (Worth £25 each so £50 value there) plus a deluxe sample size of the Smart moisturiser and it was reduced from £40 to £26.66 …. for which I paid using my Boots points so I am more than happy with that!!

Pixi & Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse

Pixi & Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse

This is the second pot that I have had of this so it has featured in a previous empties post.  The collaboration between Pixi Beauty and Caroline Hirons in a dual pot of cleansers is great.  Ideal for travel and does what it says!  The balm cleanser effectively removes makeup and the cream cleanser then cleans the skin leaving it fresh, soft and not dry at all.

Would I repurchase?

Yes.  This is my second pot and I would repurchase.  I have my current favourites of Clinique Take The Day Off balm and Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing balm as my evening cleansers at the moment but I would recommend trying this and I would buy it again.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

IMG_6972 2

This is only the travel size as I don’t use this very often but it is great for removing makeup without the need for water.  This is not something I do generally as I like to remove makeup with an oily balm and then double cleanse my skin but for travel, this is great.  Prior to sorting out my skincare, I will admit, this was a one-stop product for me and I would use this and then go to bed!!  Not any more!!  This is also great for when I have very heavy dance makeup on and I may use this over my eyes first before going in with the balms!

Would I repurchase?

Yes, I already have.  I have this ready in my travel bag for Iceland in January as I am only there for three nights and don’t plan on taking too many products with me having only 15k luggage! Haha!

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%

The Ordinary, Advanced Retinoid 2%

The Ordinary is a brand that I have raved about this year and this product is one that doesn’t disappoint.  I wanted to start investing more into my skin in terms of the right ingredients!  The Advanced Retinoid is a step leading up to perhaps retinols which I still haven’t ventured into retinols but I think this is a safe and gentle start yet and effective one.  I have already posted more detail on this in another post so check out The Ordinary…..a few months on…

Would I repurchase?

Yes, I already have a bottle waiting to be opened!

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

Another product that is covered in the The Ordinary…..a few months on… is the silicone primer.  For the price of £4.90 you cannot go wrong with this providing you don’t mind the texture of an obvious silicone primer!  I have used this for a while and it is great under any of the foundations that I have.

Would I repurchase?

Yes, I already have!

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash

I think this is likely to have featured in another empties post at some point also as I have bought this before and loved it.  The sugar crush body wash is lovely and fresh!  A very sweet scent to it so you’ll either love it or hate it as I know some people really don’t like such sweet scents but I think this is lovely!!

Would I repurchase?

Yes.  I haven’t yet as I have other shower products that I haven’t used yet but this is definitely one that I would repurchase!

So that’s it for December and indeed for this year!!  With only 6 hours to go until the start of a new chapter I would like to wish all of my readers, followers, subscribers, likes and commenters, regular or those who just pop by every now and again, THANK YOU and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I agree, it’s good to test foundation under different lighting conditions. I’ve been mismatched countless times!
I haven’t been able to locate that Pixi & Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse here – I wonder if it’s a UK only product.
I just picked up the Clinique Fresh Pressed 2 week set on discount too! I can’t wait to try it.

Hmm, the Double Cleanse I think is available on Cult Beauty as that’s where I got it…can you get it from there?
The Fresh Pressed is great. As I said in the post, I don’t use it all of the time but it’s great one week treat every so often as a boost. The serum I’ve found on both of the other times that I have used it, lasts longer than the 7 days anyway so I just keep going with it til it runs out! Let me know what you think of it!! xx

Nice assortment of empties :D. I’m currently using the Dior Skin Star instead of Forever. As I have dryer skin, that one was recommended to me instead of the Forever. I do really love it, so natural and glowy! xoxo Sarah
