Younique Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation

One makeup product that I don’t need to buy at the moment…..along with eyeshadows….lipsticks….blushers….primers…..eyeliners……oh and mascaras……is foundation….. 😛

I have 3 liquid foundations already on the go and have sworn not to buy another until I use at least one of them up!  That however doesn’t stop me trying them out!  In fact, if I spend the time trying new ones, I won’t make the mistake I made with the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation…

As I mentioned in my previous post Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes + a friend of mine started selling Younique products.  The day that she came to deliver my 3D lashes was the first time I had seen her for a good few years so we had to have a cuppa and a catch up as well as a rummage through the new makeup items she has in her kit!   As with the lashes, the other product that I have been tempted by is the Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation.  I am pretty fussy when it comes to foundation in that I like a full coverage, not cakey, not heavy, long lasting and doesn’t settle into lines and pores!   (It also has to be free from parabens for a foundation for me) (I’m not asking for much really am I???? 😛  )

I prefer to use light shades of foundation so Amanda got hold of 2 very light shades “Scarlett” and “Organza” and gave me a sample to try both.

Looking at the videos people post about this foundation they always claim to only need a few drops….haha…really?  I doubt it!………gosh was I wrong!!!!  There was only a very small amount in these sample pots and I think I got 3 full face uses from each of them!

A bit of info from Younique’s Website:

This smooth foundation goes on liquid and dries to a soft, powdery finish while optical diffusers blur imperfections and minimize wrinkles and pores. No touch-ups necessary. Each shade is also available as a corresponding Touch Mineral Concealer, Pressed Powder, and Cream Foundation.

How I used it:  I used my Sigma Flat Top Kabuki brush to apply this foundation as it is directed to buff into the skin using a brush (I usually apply foundation with a Beauty Blender)….I dipped the brush into the sample pot (Usually you would just drop a few drops directly from the bottle) and dotted it onto my forehead, cheeks and chin and buffed it into my skin.

My opinion:  The fist thing to note about this is that it applies ridiculously easily!  It glides over the skin beautifully!  I want to say it almost applies like a serum???  Possibly the wrong way to describe it because it isn’t a serum nor does it have any oiliness but that’s the only way I can think to explain how smooth it feels to apply.  It is very lightweight!  It does dry quite quickly to a powder finish.  It is said to be buildable for a sheer to medium coverage.  Personally I find it medium as soon as it is applied and I don’t think I would want to build on it…or need to as the coverage and colour correction of my skin was good in my opinion.  The powder finish does still allow for an application of a setting powder without looking cakey or dry which is good as I tend to need setting powders over most foundations that I use.

Wear:  I have tried this with and without primer and powder.  Without primer and powder I found that I still got a great finish to my makeup but it probably lasted around 3 hours without my skin looking a bit oily / foundation breaking down.  I find this with a lot of foundations!  I used it over the Hourglass Mineral Veil primer and with my Laura Mercier Setting Powder and it does last longer.  I have to say I have only worn it for around 6 hours as the maximum as it’s mainly been for dance class or for going out in the evening for a meal etc.   I have worn it for around 5 hours tonight and am finding I am now slightly oily on my T-zone so I wouldn’t say it is a long-lasting all day type of foundation for my skin…I am not discounting it for others though as everyone is different…what I class as starting to go oily, some would say is just a healthy glow!   This doesn’t bother me too much, if I want an all day foundation I have that in my Estee Lauder Double Wear which I don’t believe anything can compete with so I am comparing this more to my Nars Sheer Glow in terms of wear.

Would I purchase?  Yes!  I have ummed and aahhed about this but I really do like the way it applies and the finish.  I like to have a couple of foundation choices in my collection because what I wear depends on where I’m going, how long I want the foundation to be on my skin, how much time I have to do my makeup and so on.

Would I recommend it?  Yes, another friend of mine also tried it and she was impressed with how it applied also.    To begin with I did think this had caused my skin to breakout but as it hasn’t happened since I think it is ok on that score.   As with all foundations I would recommend getting a tester first as I have said previously but this is definitely one worth testing!

Here’s some pics of when I’ve used this foundation:
