Empties

The last time I posted an empties post was actually at the end of last year! Blimey!! I decided to stop doing monthly empties posts as some months I had nothing and another month I would have tons! However, they’ve mounted up over the last 3 months that if I tried to post about them all in one post you’d need the next 3 months to read it! So … I’ve split it down into a few posts! Here goes:

Empties

Clinique Sparkle Skin

The Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliator was something that I won in an Instagram competition with my local Boots Clinique counter! A gel-like texture containing menthol so is a great ‘wake me up’ kind of shower product. The exfoliation is pretty gentle yet effective so it left my skin feeling nice and smooth but not stripped. I would buy this again (despite not actually ‘buying’ this one haha!)

Clarins Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate

Now this smells AMAZING! I love the scent of this, which I use in the shower but can be used in the bath also. The scent is described by Clarins as ‘invigorating, aromatic virtues of Rosemary, Mint and Geranium. Extracts of Gentian and Pine cleanse and refine‘. I received this as a gift with purchase at a Clarins event and also got their body oil which is beautiful! I will absolutely be buying this again!

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation

I had heard so many good things about this foundation so when I saw the Makeup Forever stand at the IMATS event in London, I knew I had to give it a go! It is a medium coverage foundation that gives a really lovely natural finish so it’s not too dewy and not too matte … a really good balance! A little definitely goes a long way so this bottle lasted me a long time! It’s a great day time makeup base as it feels pretty light on the skin but has good longevity so is a good go-to for evening makeup too. It’s on my list as a repurchase when I’m looking for another foundation.

IGK Mistress Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner

I picked this up in Sephora last year after my Sister in law had raved about IGK products! This gel formula leave in conditioner worked really well to detangle my long hair which breaks easily when I brush it through after washing. This conditioner really helped to prevent that but also left my hair feeling smooth once dry. I believe this is now called the Hydrating Hair Balm? I’m not sure if the product is exactly the same or not however. I would use this again but at the moment am using something else 😛

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gelee Milk Cleanser

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gelee Milk Cleanser

This has been featured in my empties before as it’s one of those products that I have in for perhaps using to start working at my eye makeup before actually ‘cleansing’ if it needs it … but I have to admit, it is one of those ‘I’ve gone to bed wayyyyy too late and need to quickly take off my makeup then regret not double cleansing and completing a skincare routine’ kind of things…trust me, that’s pretty rare but ain’t gonna lie … haha! I have also used this when I’ve run out of a normal wash-off kind of cleanser but have in that instance used it as I would any other cleanser, applied it to dry skin and removed with a wet flannel as opposed to dry cotton pads. It’s a lightweight gel consistency which works really well to remove makeup…it also smells really nice – which I know shouldn’t matter, and it doesn’t matter, just an observation! I will buy this again as it’s something I like to have in my draw.

Alpha H Balancing Cleanser

As this is a selection of products from my ’empties’ box accumulated over the last few months, there are a few cleansers in here! This was in the Marks & Spencer Beauty Advent calendar from 2019 and I was looking forward to trying it as it sounded lovely! It’s a gentle creamy lotion cleanser that removes all makeup but I didn’t waste it removing makeup, I used this as either a morning cleanser or my second cleanse after makeup removal. It contains Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to hydrate the skin, smells amazing and cleans my skin without stripping. I loved the texture of this and will absolutely buy this again.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

This is not the first time I have had this cleanser so there’s a clue as to my recommendation of it haha! I bought it in New York originally at the Glossier showroom following the hype of this being a ‘must have’ product!  It didn’t disappoint!  I have used this as a morning cleanser and also to remove makeup and it works on both counts. The smell is a bit odd but that’s because there aren’t any nasties in it masking the smell…..it’s not at all off putting and doesn’t last once rinsed off so don’t let that put you off using it!  It is a light cleanser which I rinse off with a flannel and it doesn’t strip my skin at all. I would buy this again.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion Cleanser

I don’t ‘yet’ have a Beauty Pie subscription but will be doing so soon however I was given this for my birthday and I have to say I LOVE it! In my last post about the Sisters in Skincare podcasts, we have covered Beauty Pie and how it works etc so do check that out! This is describedd as a gel-to-oil-to-milk cleansing balm … basically it’s lightweight and transforms when applied to the skin, then again when water is added. (I still remove it with a flannel!). It removes makeup, gentle enough to use around my eyes and remove eye makeup but is also good as a basic morning or evening cleanser. I love it and it will be one of my first Beauty Pie purchases when I sign up! … I may also have another one already thanks to my Sister in law 😛

Pixi Skintreats Glow-O2 Oxygen Mask

Last but not least … Pixi! I love this mask! It is really weird to use but so good! It is desgined to revive dull and tired skin and Pixi suggest it is a good skin prep before a big event or makeup application due to it’s immediate anti-fatigue effect. It is applied to the skin after cleansing and left on for 2-3 minutes … during which time it goes from a smooth, gel like consistency to a face full of little bubbles of oxygen! It’s like you can feel it working on the skin! Once rinsed off my skin felt and looked amazing and smooth. It contains  probiotics to help improve skin, caffiene to de-puff and energise and Red Ginseng to brighten and clarify. My ONLY criticism is whilst the pump action packaging is great, you can’t tell when it’s near empty! Apart from that, it’s fabulous! A definite must buy from Pixi!

So that’s one lot of empties, there’s more to follow!

The IGK conditioner is so nice, I got a Deluxe sample in the Sephora advent calendar and I loved it, the scent was everything but I never splurge for my hair so I won’t get it
