May Empties

May Empties

I’ve only recently posted my April Empties but that was super late so here’s a more ‘on-time’ post of the things I used up in May.

You may want to grab a cuppa … this is a long post!! You have been warned!

**Post contains PR Samples**

Clarins Double Serum

Clarins Double Serum

A definite #carolinehironsmademedoit product was this Clarins Double Serum. This is my second bottle of this and I love it. You can read more about this serum and my thoughts on it here but it’s safe to say this is one that I will definitely be repurchasing.

Sheer Radiance by Autograph

Sheer Radiance by Autograph
Sheer Radiance by Autograph

This fragrance is described as ‘a delicate blend of citrus and floral accents, themed around an interplay between mandarin, gardenia and pink pepper’. It was part of the Summer M&S Beauty Box last year and I have enjoyed using it. Fragrance is a personal thing so what suits me may not suit you etc, so I don’t tend to go on too much about fragrance! It was a nice, light scent to use however I don’t think I would rush out to repurchase, purely based on my fragrance preference being a little sweeter.

I am trying to make a conscious effort to start using up the mamouth amount of perfume samples that I have and these two have so far been two of my favourites. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb was going to be a hit with me as I have the full size of this and have had it before … an ongoing favourite of mine. Summery and just the right amount of sweetness for me. I love it! Chanel’s Gabrielle was another one that I would class as my type of scent. Again, sweet but not overly sickly sweet which is the end of the scale that I don’t tend to like. I would wear both of these again.

Clarins Clear-Out

Clarins Clear-Out
Clarins Clear-Out

This was a sample size given out at the John Lewis event with Caroline Hirons. I initially thought it would be great for my teenage sons … who of course don’t use it, like any skincare! I don’t tend to suffer too much with spots but when I do, it’s usually my chin area (likely hormonal no doubt!). I thought I would try this on a couple of spots that came up and I have to say, I am super impressed. Not only did this seem to reduce the inflammation, it didn’t dry the skin out surrounding the spot and it seemed to go away quite quickly. I would certainly look at purchasing this as I think it’s super handy to have for those ‘on-the-spot’ emergencies! 😛 (I’ll get my coat haha!)

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Eyeliner

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Eyeliner

The Razor Sharp eyeliners are without doubt the best liquid eyeliners that I have ever used. I love the two shades ‘Perversion’ which is black and ‘Bump’ which is white. I’ve used them for a few years now, especially in my dance competition looks. They have fantastic staying power, once they’re on, they’re on and last all day. I would repurchase … but alas, I can’t! I found out last week that Urban Decay have discontinued this line and I’m super sad about that! I’m praying they release something similar at least! Luckily with the Perversion shade, I do have a spare one in my stash!

Mascara Selection

Mascara Selection
Mascara Selection

Having finished a selection of mascaras I’ve grouped these together: * Nars Climax Mascara – A good mascara in terms of lengthening lashes however I do find I end up with a ‘panda eyes’ look through the day. I have another sample of this so will keep trying it and decide next time if I like it! * Diego dalla Palma Ciglione – Good mascara, no complaints! I would use this again. * Kiko Volume Attraction Mascara – this is a great mascara and have repurchased numerous times. I have this in my pro kit and in my personal makeup collection. In my YouTube video below, I did make a silly mistake! This mascara is around £7 and Kiko’s most recent offer was buy 2 get 2 free. In the quickness of recording a video I said that works out at £1.70 something per mascara which isn’t true! I took the £7 between 4, forgetting you pay for 2 … either way, £3.50 per mascara is still a total bargain and it’s a really good mascara. I love it! • Clinique High Lengths Mascara – this I do love. The brush is a mini comb so you can easily get to those tiny lashes and also is great for running along the lower lashes without getting mascara everywhere like what can (and does!) happen with a bigger brush! I would definitely buy this again. * Diorshow Maximizer 3D – this isn’t a mascara but I have included it in this section because it is a lash primer to use before mascara. It adds volume and length to lashes and when worn as an undercoat give any mascara that I have used a real boost. This is the second one of these that I have had and I would buy this again.

Estee Lauder Nightwear Plus

This nighttime moisturiser was in a gift with purchase set from Estee Lauder. I’d had it in my stash for a while and have only more recently got round to using it. In terms of consistency it is more lightweight than a lot of night creams but too heavy to be a day cream if that makes sense. The scent reminds me of the fresh cucumber smell that their Daywear moisturiser has which I used to use years ago! A lovely, hydrating night cream that I would defintely use again. It didn’t leave any residue on my skin and was absorbed nicely overnight leaving my skin feeling plumped and soft.

Oskia Renaissance Mask

Oskia Renaissance Mask

If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know that my morning cleanser is the Oskia Renaissance cleansing gel. I got this Renaissance mask as part of a collaboration box with Caroline Hirons and Cult Beauty last year and have loved using it. I apply a layer of this after cleansing and lay in the bath and relax while the mask does what it needs to do. A NUTRI-ACTIVE RADIANCE, BRIGHTENING & RESURFACING MASK With MSM, Passion Fruit, Grape, Lemon & Grapefruit AHA’s, Papaya Enzymes, Swiss Garden Cress Liposomes, Prebiotics, Ribose & Butterbur. The texture of this mask is smooth yet the effects are more like a light peel, leaving my skin feeling soft and clean and looking brighter. I would definitely repurchase this mask … oh and it smells AMAZING!

Mac Fix+

Mac Fix +

I have used Mac Fix+ for a few years now, this was just a travel size that I bought because I thought it would be handy. I use this as a hit of hydration when needed and also for dampening brushes when I want to use a pigment or get a wet-look from a powder eyeshadow. I do repurchase these and will be getting another one of these travel size ones for my holiday.

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist

Coconut water, Hibiscus flower, Rose, Witch hazel and Aloe Vera work to hydrate, even the skin tone, reduce redness and inflammation, tighten and heal the skin. I have loved using this spray for a good dose of hydration in my skincare routine. The suggested use is after cleansing and before moisturiser so I would use this perhaps after using an acid or after my serums. I’ve also been using this as a general mist during the day when I’ve needed it. I will be repurchasing this as it’s a lovely spray!

Pixi Rose Tonic

Pixi Rose Tonic

This is the 100ml version of this Rose Tonic and for travel, it’s perfect! This super hydrating tonic is calming and soothing on the skin, great for use after cleansing or after using acids to balance the skin’s pH. I have and will continue to repurchase this tonic, usually in the 250ml size but as I say, these mini sizes are great for travel or just to try the product out if you’re unsure about committing to the bigger version.

Dr Paw Paw Multipurpose Hair & Body Conditioner

Dr Paw Paw
Dr Paw Paw

This hair and body conditioner smells absolutely amazing!  Cruelty free, Paraben Free, SLS Free, just general nastiness-free, it’s fantastic.  I’ve used this as both a hair and body conditioner and it leaves my hair and skin lovely and clean and smelling divine. I haven’t repurchased this but only because I have other products that I’m using from my stash!

Batiste Dry Shampoo

Batiste Dry Shampoo
Batiste Dry Shampoo

I don’t use dry shampoo very often but this is one that I’ve purchased again and again. I do like the scent of this one and find that it does what it’s meant to do! There’s nothing more I can really say about it … I would buy it again but haven’t yet as I have others to use.

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser
The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser *Gifted*

This is a new cleanser from The Ordinary with the star ingredient of Squalane. Squalane is a hydrator so having this in the cleanser allows makeup to be removed and skin to be cleaned without stripping the skin. Lipophilic esters help to dissolve makeup and clean the rubbish from the skin. It has a thick consistency from the tube, which then emulsifies and feels more like an oil cleanser. It is a great cleanser and does leave my skin feeling clean and soft without feeling tight or stripped. The one issue however with this is that it irritated my eyes! I tried it a few times around my eyes to remove eye makeup and it really stung!! I will definitely be repurchasing this cleanser but won’t be using it around my eyes again that’s for sure!

If you’ve made it to the end of the post … well done and thank you!!

Great post! I think the “panda eyes” is a common complaint of the NARS mascara. I really want to try the one from Kiko. I’ve heard nothing but great things and its so inexpensive.
