April Empties – Rather late I know!

I have no idea where May went! I have to say it’s simply disappeared … as did the time to post about my empties from April. I did contemplate not posting this as I am now ready to post my empties from May however, I know a lot of people have previously commented via Instagram that they love reading these type of posts so here goes! I’ll also add a link to my YouTube video that covers these products (well, most of them as I missed a couple when filming!!) #rookieyoutuber haha! The video is at the end of this post so feel free to scroll through and watch that instead!

So … here’s April’s Empties …

Heaven Cleanse & Foam Wash
Heaven Cleanse & Foam Wash

I won this in a Twitter giveaway … and we all know what I’m like for trying new skincare so I was excited to try it. I have seen other Bloggers rave about it and was looking forward to giving it a go. Organic Mandarin and Orange Flower give this face wash it’s amazing scent. Scent doesn’t count for everything with skincare but this does smell super refreshing. It is a lightweight foam that cleans the skin without drying it out. I avoid foam washes as they’re so drying on my skin but this really wasn’t! I would purchase this!

The Chemistry Brand Hyaluronic Concentrate

This tub of Hyaluronic Acid is for the body. I’ve mentioned before that I am rubbish when it comes to applying body products which is rather random given I wouldn’t neglect my face in that way!! I have been using this on wet skin straight after my shower, but as usual, not regularly enough for me to say what difference it has made to my skin. It is nice to use, lightweight almost jelly-like consistency but is absorbed nicely. My skin does feel nice and soft after use. I would repurchase this but perhaps make a conscious effort to use it every day so that I could say for sure what it was doing for my skin but overall it’s nice to use!

Pixi Lash Nourish Pads

Put simply, this are great! Handy and great for travel! They remove eye makeup perfectly and don’t sting my eyes which is a HUGE plus point for me as many eye makeup removers do! I hold the pad over my eye for a moment before wiping away. They are gentle on the eyes yet effective at removing makeup without scrubbing. I would definitely repurchase and will be taking these on holiday with me.

Josh Wood Shampoo & Conditioner

I have reviewed these on my blog previously as I had been sent some to review. I have since purchased, emptied and repurchased because I do like using these. I did make a switch more recently to another brand, not because I wasn’t happy with these, but me being me, I do like to try different things. Currently regretting the swtich as I’m not so keen on the new products I’m using (more on that in another post … possibly even another ‘not empties’) but I would definitely repurchase these and will at some point I’m sure!

Aloe Ever-Shield Deoderant

Aloe Ever-Shield Deodorant

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this previously on an empties post. This is an aluminium free, paraben free deodorant stick that I’ve been using for a while. I’ve had quite a few sticks of this but as with most deodorants that I like I eventually find they stop working for me and that’s happened with this one unfortunately as I do like it. I am also hesitant at recordering this because I find I can’t just order this one product without being messaged about trying other products! I’m not having a go at them in saying this, it’s the truth! I find it quite frustrating sometimes because instead of taking my money for a couple of these, I end up not ordering! Moan over! I would possibly repurchase but not any time soon for both of those reasons above!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

I do like sample size mascaras … in part because I hate wasting a full mascara if I decide I don’t like it part way through or sometimes they dry out too quickly because I’m not reaching for it enough. I have had the full size of this before so knew that I liked it. I do love the spikey comb style wand that this has as it’s great for separating the lashes and getting to those smaller and seemingly harder to reach lashes! I would definitely buy this again.

Clarins Hydra-essential Bi-phase serum

I was given this by someone who had been raving about it after I complemented her skin! A deluxe trial size of this product was definitely enough to convince me I love it! A super hydrating serum that layers so well with anything in my routine. It left my skin feeling so soft, smooth and hydrated. I will definitely be adding this to my skincare arsenal at some point … only because I’m trying to clear my stash first!

Clinique Take The Day Off Balm

There is not much more I can say about this that hasn’t already been said! If you search for this product on my blog, it appears numerous times. Literally does exactly what it says on the tin … removes all makeup easily and effectively. Also does not sting my eyes so an obvious plus point there too. It’s that simple – it’s great! Highly recommended and I’ve been using this for years! Would and have and will always (I presume!) repurchase!

Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray

I am terrible for not noting things like ‘Does this make my makeup stay on longer’ – kind of a pre-requisite of reviewing something I’ve used I guess but I only think about that afterwards! I really would need to pay more attention to be able to honestly say if this has helped keep my makeup on longer. I do use it, not every time I wear makeup, more for heavier makeup and I believe it helps to keep my makeup in place but at the same time, so does a setting powder and I use those all of the time. I would repurchase but at this stage more so that I can actually test it out rather than just use and not notice!

Sephora Solid Clean Brush Cleaner

Sephora Makeup Brush Cleanser

It worked … does what it says on the tin! There’s not much more to it than that! I wet the makeup brush, swirl it into the soap bar, swirl it onto my brush cleaning pad and rinse. Job done. Easy to use and cleans effectively. I would repurchase as this was pretty cheap but given we don’t have a Sephora here in the UK I will grab one of these when I go away next. For now I’ve purchased a Revolution version so will see how that goes!

Shay & Blue Perfumes

Shay & Blue Perfumes
Shay & Blue Perfumes

I received these in the M&S beauty advent calendars – I think the Blood Orange was in the 2018 calendar which was gifted to me by M&S. Fragrance is such a personal thing so it’s difficult to say if these are something you would like. The Blood Orange version is sweet but not overly sweet and as you’d expect, is citrusy … just a sweet citrus! The Atropa Belladonna however is almost opposite. It is quite earthy and woody, still pleasant but not really my kind of fragrance. They do last well but for me, I wouldn’t purchase either of these … the Blood Orange was my favourite of all of the Shay & Blue ones I have tried.

BalanceMe Wonder Eye Cream

My main issue with my under eye area is dryness. It isn’t too bad at all as I do use hydrating eye creams such as this one so my easiest way to review this is to say it did help to keep my under eye hydrated. It also worked well under concealer too which is a big thing for me as I can’t be doing with products that ball up the second makeup is put over the top! I would repurchase this!

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid 10%

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid 10%
The Ordinary Azelaic Acid 10%

This, I LOVE! The Ordinary’s 10% Azelaic Acid suspension has been fantastic on a couple of levels. One, it has reduced my spots that I get around my chin. Two, it has helped to even out my skin texture around my jawline where I was getting hormonal spots. They’re not completely gone but so much better than before. Three, the pigmentation I had around the top of my forehead is massively reduced! A great combination I found was this and the Vitamin C serum by Clinique. Using the two together were like a powerhouse couple in my routine and I noticed the biggest changes in my skin. I do like to give my skin a break from products and try new ones but this is definitely something I will continue to go back to again and again. I have another tube ready to open and as you can see on this photo I get every last bit out! I cut the top of the tube open and seal it as best I can with a hair pin just so I can get just a few more days out of it!

Clinique Chubby Stick – Robust Rhubarb

I do love a Clinique Chubby Stick! Super handy and travel friendly too. I used this one regularly as my blusher on top of foundation but under powder. It’s a subtle yet buildable colour. I think this was a gift with purchase product but I would definitely purchase these!

Kiko Volume Attraction Mascara

Kiko Volume Attraction Mascara
Kiko Volume Attraction Mascara

This is probably one of the best mascaras I think I’ve used! It gives good curl and length to the lashes, great true-black pigmentation and doesn’t go clumpy. I tend to have one spare so I don’t run out and this is also my go-to mascara in my pro-kit! I would highly recommend trying this mascara…in fact the last offer at Kiko meant these were approximately £1.75 each!

Hourglass Immaculate Foundation

Hourglass Immaculate Foundation
Hourglass Immaculate Foundation

I am definitely an Hourglass makeup fan! This product was no exception. This is an oil free, matte finish foundation that gives almost a liquid to powder kind of feel to it. It has a great coverage and when my skin was a bit oilier, this was absolutely perfect! More recently I have opted for slightly dewier finish foundations or BB creams so I haven’t repurchased but would and do highly recommend it.

Jimmy Choo Fever Perfume

Jimmy Choo Fever Perfume
Jimmy Choo Fever Perfume

Last but not least … one of my absolute favourite perfumes! I bought this going through Duty Free last year. It was one of those where you’re handed a tester, walk away then dart back because it’s just too lovely not to have! Again I can’t say much on fragrance because it’s personal preference but I highly recommend trying this one out for yourself! I have had so many compliments when wearing this and have had a couple of people say they’ve been and bought it because they loved it when they smelt I was wearing it! Haha! Obvious repurchase here but this little purse size was a gift with the bigger bottle that I bought so repurchase won’t be necessary just yet!

So, that’s finally it! Well done if you’ve made it to the end of the post!

Here’s my YouTube video which as I say has a couple of items missing – must get better at that!
