The beauty advent calendars are great for trying products that you would perhaps never normally look towards in store. They’re also great for trying products you may have had your eye on for a while without committing to the full priced product and then discovering that you don’t actually like it despite hype surrounding it.
Today’s calendar treat is …
Shay & Blue Black Tulip Fragrance

Shay & Blue has been included in all 3 calendars now that I have had. Today’s scent is ‘Black Tulip’ which is described as having ‘a unique floral freshness of snowdrops and cyclamen, black tulip and plum underpinned with the smooth warmth of white chocolate and woods.’
Paraben-free and vegan-friendly seems to be a common theme in product ranges throughout M&S beauty which is great to see.
Having sprayed this onto my skin I get an instant warm, winter scent with definite woody notes to it. I am not 100% sure it’s my kind of fragrance but I do sometimes find that scents that I am not sure about eventually go one of two ways, I stop using it or I decide I like it haha! I am used to wearing more summery, floral, sweet perfumes. The sweetness of it is certainly an attraction of this scent, I am just not sure it is for me. Perfumes are a very personal thing because they smell different on each person because of everyone’s individual body chemistry. Also how it smells when sprayed onto the skin, isn’t necessarily how it will smell to the wearer after say half an hour because the top and middle notes may have evaporated for example, leaving a different smell to that which was there on first sniff. With all of that said, I would never say a perfume smells ‘horrible’ because I know that me not liking it has no bearing on someone else liking or disliking it. As usual however I will feedback more on this perfume when I’ve worn it more.
At £10 per 10ml, today’s box has a value of £10!
