After seeing a post on Caroline Hirons Instagram about #getlippy and The Eve Appeal, I had to find out more. I have previously posted on here about raising awareness for Breast Cancer and Breast cancer care and I’ve posted about hosting a jewellery event in aid of Macmillan so when I saw this I wanted to know how to get involved in helping to raise awareness!
The Eve Appeal
Women’s cancer charity The Eve Appeal, has launched a campaign throughout May to raise awareness and ‘Get Lippy’ about Gynae cancers and the early signs and symptoms that many women are too embarrassed to go to the doctors about or don’t realise they’re experiencing what could be a warning sign.
The Eve Appeal is the only UK charity to focus on funding research into detection, risk prediction and prevention of all five gynae cancers. The vision of the charity is to have ‘a future where fewer women develop and more women survive gynaecological cancers‘
Every day in the UK, 58 women are diagnosed with one of the FIVE (Yes FIVE!) forms of gynaecological cancer! Nearly a fifth of women are worried or too embarrassed about seeing their GP about about a gynae-related issue!
The aim behind the ‘GET LIPPY’ appeal is to raise awareness of the 5 forms of female cancers, helping to break the taboo of the subject and to encourage women to get loud and talking about it! The campaign is also to raise money to help fund the vital research for the future of women’s health.
So…how can we help?
- Simply purchase a lip product from the number of brands are donating at least 10% of the sale of the products to the charity. The products and companies are listed on their website.
- Text ‘LIPPY’ to 70660 to donate £3 to The Eve Appeal (See website for details of charges)
- Spread the word of the campaign by putting on your lippy and sharing a pouty pic on Instagram using the hashtag #getlippy
- On 25th May, take part in ‘Get Lippy’ day with friends! Download a free fundraising pack from The Eve Appeal for ideas on how to get involved.
- Get Loud and Lippy!
I haven’t heard anything about this appeal until seeing your post. It’s a great idea though, and fab that all those brands have teamed up to help out. I’ll have to have a proper look! Great photos, your skin looks gorgeous!
