January Empties

We’re already way past the half way point of February and I am yet to review the products that I used up in January! Hopefully I will be a bit earlier when it comes to February’s products!! So here’s what I have used up in the first month of 2019!

Josh Wood Radiating Conditioner

I first used Josh Wood products when I was approached by them to test and review them back in the Summer last year. I was impressed with them as you can read here Josh Wood Colour Haircare Review. Their range is sulphate and paraben free and I loved both the shampoo and conditioner. Since testing the ones I was sent, I have bought more and I always tend to work through the shampoo before conditioner no matter what brand I buy so the shampoo featured in my December Empties post.

Would I repurchase?

Yes, I highly recommend their Shampoo and Conditioner. (This bottle was not gifted)

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

You can see from this photo alone that this is a well love bottle! This is the 200ml supersize version and it lasts a long time! I use this cleanser pretty much every morning and if you follow me on Instagram you’ll see this appear in my stories and posts where I list my routine. It leaves my skin soft and clean and it smells amazing. It contains Vitamins A, C and E, Omega 6, Starflower oil, Pumpkin Enzymes, Chamomile and Rose. It is a gel-to-oil cleanser and I cannot praise it enough. This isn’t the first time it has appeared in my empties posts!

Would I repurchase?

Absolutely! I always repurchase this well before my current one runs out! My next 200ml bottle was sat waiting for when I finished this one!

Clinique Moisture Surge

Another product that features on the blog quite a bit in any routines or empties posts as I have been using this as my daily moisturiser for a few years now. It is a lightweight gel-creme moisturiser that works brilliantly to hydrate my skin throughout the day. It sits perfectly under makeup and works well with any other products that I have layered it with in my routine.

Would I repurchase?

This is one product that I have at least one spare one of and if I get a chance to, I buy one in Duty Free whenever I am going away as they stock the super-size pots. Again I cannot rave about this product enough! I love it!

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Powder

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Powder

The finishing powder by Charlotte Tilbury is one that until the last bit crumbled to pieces, it was going really well! It contains micro powders to help blur imperfections along with Rose Wax and Almond oil to help hydrate the skin throughout the day so when I was wearing this my skin didn’t feel dry or look caked in makeup. It is good for taking shine off my t-zone, which is exactly what I want it to do. I think the only thing I found off-putting was that if I swirled my brush into the pan as I do with any other compacts, the powder seemed to fly everywhere so I worked my way through this product relatively quickly. You really have to just lay the brush onto the product and press I think to have it not lift so much product.

Would I repurchase?

I haven’t yet but the chances are I will. It works really well and feels nice on my skin.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

Micellar cleansing water isn’t something you’d find in my daily routine however it is good for makeup mistakes or to remove stubborn eye makeup. I also use the back of my hands alot when applying makeup to clients so it’s very handy to have in my pro-kit to remove that when I finish work.

Would I repurchase?

Yes. Again, not for my routine but as above, it’s definitely handy to have!

Nuxe Prodigieux Precious Scented Shower Oil

Nuxe Prodigieux Precious Scented Shower Oil

I first used Nuxe products when I tried their dry oil which smells lovely and was included in the 2016 M&S beauty advent calendar. This shower oil was in the 2017 M&S advent calendar and I loved it so of course had to go out and buy the full size! It feels super luxurious on the skin and of course smells amazing. It leaves my skin feeling soft after use and I don’t feel the need to use an additional moisturiser when I get out of the shower. With all of that said, the problem for me with this full size product is the packaging. I really struggled after the first few uses to get the product out easily. Bearing in mind this is being used in the shower with wet hands, the tube wasn’t letting the product out and I had to try and bend the tube in half to get enough force behind it!

Would I repurchase?

I think I would in the hope that the tube that I had just had a dodgy packaging and that they’re not all like that! I’d be happy to try it again as I love the product itself.

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm

This is another product that has featured on my blog and instagram before in various sizes. I absolutely love the cleanser, I don’t waste it on removing my makeup (although it is fab for that!), this is a second cleanse for me to clean my skin. I also use it as a hydrating mask which is wonderfully relaxing in the bath as the smell is just divine! I love these mini travel versions as they’re great for taking on holiday and it is of course cabin luggage friendly for using as mid-air skincare on a long haul flight. I currently have a 100ml pot waiting to be opened but as I have 3 cleansers open at the moment I am trying to use one up before I open this as I know once I open it I will only want to use that and end up wasting others!

Would I repurchase?

Yes! I first tried this again in the M&S Beauty advent calendar and didn’t think I would like it at first. I love it! I have the 100ml pot stocked but will also be buying more of these travel size versions for my next trip away in August.

Dr Paw Paw Multipurpose Hair & Body Wash

Dr Paw Paw Multipurpose Hair & Body Wash

Natural hair products are a real hit with me.  I’m avoiding SLS based shampoos and conditioners and I feel like my hair is in much better condition.  This hair and body wash smells absolutely amazing!  Cruelty free, Paraben Free, SLS Free, just general nastiness-free, it’s fantastic.  I’ve used this as both a shampoo and as a shower gel and it leaves my hair lovely and clean and smelling divine.  As for body, my skin feels clean and soft. I managed to grab a few of these when I last saw them in TKMaxx as I love them!

Would I repurchase?

Absolutely!

Bare Minerals Prime Time BB Primer-Creme

Bare Minerals Prime Time BB Primer-Creme

I’ve had a bit of a love-hate relationship with this product. Some days I’ve loved it, some I literally hate it but I’m definitely back on the side of loving it! My Sister got me onto this as she uses it alot and loves it so I thought I would give it a try. I found for me it kept pilling up and ruining whatever skincare I had applied underneath. Then I realised perhaps there’s something that I am using that just doesn’t work well with it rather than there being an issue with this product in particular. Through trial and error (and still only forming a guess!), any time that I used my silicone based products, so Azelaic Acid from The Ordinary for example, it pilled. If I hadn’t used that then it worked absolutely fine. It gives a minimal amount of coverage but can be worn on it’s own and it gives the skin a lift. It does work well also as a primer underneath other foundations. The only foundation I’ve found this to not work under is Hourglass Immaculate but again, it’s not going to work with everything! So all in all I love it! It does have an SPF30 which I usually ignore SPF values in makeup because you generally don’t apply enough of a makeup product to get the required SPF coverage but for popping to town or whatever, I rely on it. Sitting in the sun however, I wouldn’t!

Would I repurchase?

Yes! Now that I have run out, I miss it!! Haha! I will be buying this again soon!

So that’s my January Empties post and let’s face it, February’s is due very soon for which I have plenty of products already lined up!! Have you spotted any favourites in this post…or equally, have you spotted any you didn’t like? Let me know!
