Magic Organic Apothecary

Magic Organic Apothecary

‘MOA create natural skincare products, made in England, inspired by old herbal folklore and with a sprinkling of magic!’ … and already I’m sold!         The first line from their website says it all!

I was given an opportunity to try the Aphrodite Oil by Magic Organic Apothecary by a lovely local to me shop called The Artizans.  I am a huge fan of facial oils anyway and since introducing them into my skincare routine, as I’ve mentioned before, my skin has changed for the better so I was certainly keen to try it.

MOA Aphrodite Facial Oil

The oil is described as a ‘magical blend for radiant skin‘ which is easily absorbed, helping to smooth fine lines and prevent premature ageing aswell as being nourishing to the skin.

It contains Rosehip seed oil which is well known for its anti-ageing properties.  It is rich in Vitamin A, C and essential fatty acids helping to protect the skin from environmental aggressors which lead to visible signs of ageing.  Damask Rose gives this oil a lovely scent which many natural-base facial oils don’t have!!  This rose oil promotes skin healing and helps to calm redness.  Rose Geranium is included to help balance the skin and promote radiance.  Marshmallow Root is an ingredient I hadn’t even considered previously however this helps to soothe irritated skin, making this oil ideal for use for many skin type and also those, who like me perhaps use acids in their routine and need an extra hydration hit post-application!

INGREDIENTS:  Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) Extract, Tocopherol (vitamin E), **Citronellol, *Pelargonium Graveolens Oil (Geranium) Flower Oil, ** Geraniol, **Linalool, **Citral, **Limonene, *Rosa Damascena (Damask rose) Flower Oil, * Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root Extract.   (*organically grown **occurs naturally in essential oils)

The oil can be purchased separately or as part of a set with The Green Balm and Bamboo Face Cloth.  I haven’t tried the balm cleanser but I’ve heard this is an amazing product also.

My Thoughts

I absolutely LOVE this oil!  I have used Rosehip Seed oil before and found my skin really likes it so to find an oil that also encompasses other power-house ingredients is fantastic.  The oil can be used morning and night however I personally don’t need to use an oil in the mornings so this for me is certainly a night time routine product.  I cleanse, acid tone, serum then use the oil.  It doesn’t sink into my skin too quickly nor does it stay sitting on my skin for too long.  I would expect an oil like this to absorb, but not instantly if that makes sense!  It’s a lovely evening pamper treat too for facial massage!  Layering with this oil is not an issue either which is key for someone like me who does like to layer skincare!  On occasion I have also layered a night cream over the top – not because I necessarily need the hydration, but if I’ve used heavier acids, sometimes I like to really go heavy on hydration after … personal choice but my point is, there were no issues!

Would I purchase?

Absolutely!  I love it!  Certainly one of the best oils that I’ve used!

What a gorgeous oil, and such cute packaging! This is right up my street and one which I’ll definitely look at. I’ve always got a facial oil (or two) on the go. I’m with you, I definitely keep my oils to an evening routine. Not tried anything from this brand so thanks for sharing. Fab, informative post as always.
