Antipodes Skincare – Initial Impressions

In April this year I was kindly gifted some skincare products by Antipodes which you can read all about here … Antipodes – innovative, organic skincare.

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive another set of products to review which I thought I would detail in a first impressions post, followed by a more in depth review once I have used them for a while!

Antipodes

Antipodes is a New Zealand based brand which is one of the few companies in the world that is a fully certified organic skincare provider.  Founder Elizabeth Barbalich’s knowledge and experience has lead to a brand dedicated to creating products using a combination of scientific research and high quality, sustainably sourced, organic ingredients.

The products I received are:

Grapeseed Butter Cleanser

This sleek, minimalist preparation is an enchanting blend of nourishing cacao butter with soothing olive and harakeke oils. Featuring revolutionary Vinanza Grape from New Zealand’s sauvignon blanc grape seeds. Soothing lavender and blue chamomile partner to help calm sensitive skin as well as refresh and cleanse, while hibiscus bloom has gentle exfoliating action.

Helps balance oil production and also boost dry and thirsty skin.

Elements of Beauty: Vinanza Grape * Harakeke flax * Hibiscus flower.

Pure Plant Fragrance: Lavender.

Initial Impression:  This is a very thick balm / grease type of cleanser but melts when applied to the skin. The scent I have to admit is a little odd, but in fairness, many natural, plant based products have a certain smell and either you like it or you don’t.  Scent is such a personal thing and I’m undecided as to whether I like the scent but it doesn’t detract from the product itself as it is a lovely cleanser that leaves skin soft and clean without being stripping.

Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin-Plumping Serum

A water-charged serum that immediately plumps thirsty skin while helping to intensively improve your skin appearance over time. Revolutionary antioxidant Vinanza Grape from New Zealand sauvignon blanc grapes helps powerfully protect and build resistance to damage caused by environmental aggressors and pollutants.

Extract of mamaku black fern helps foster cell renewal, making this an everyday essential item for plump, healthy, youthful skin.

Elements of Beauty:  Vinanza Grape * Waiwera artesian water *  Mamaku black fern.

Pure Plant Fragrance: Rose & cardamon.

Initial Impression:  I am really liking this so far.  It is a water-thin product that dries quickly but still feels comfortable on the skin.  As much as scent shouldn’t come into it, this does smell nice!  I have been using this in the evening and the antioxidant serum in the morning.

Worship Skin Defence Antioxidant Serum

Defend cells against the oxidative stress that can lead to your skin’s early ageing with a daily dose of healthy antioxidants that help combat free radical damage. This supreme organic skin booster features New Zealand grown superfruits blessed with some of Nature’s highest concentrations of anti-ageing antioxidants: boysenberry, blackcurrant and kiwifruit, plus revolutionary antioxidant Vinanza Grape.

Elements of Beauty: Vinanza Oxifend Plus * Coffee cherry * Açaí berry.

Pure Plant Fragrance: Blackcurrant and boysenberry.

Initial Impression:  The consistency of this serum is similar to the Hosanna one and also smells lovely.  Antioxidant serums are great as part of the morning routine because of their ability to protect the skin from external aggressors so I have been adding this to my morning regime and it has fit in well with all of my other products.

Divine Face Oil

img_1972.jpg

A nutrient-rich face oil for fresh, healthy skin. The superior collagen-boosting action of avocado oil helps reduce the appearance of lines, age spots and scars. Capture rosehip’s high levels of Vitamin A and C and essential fatty acids, plus its known ability to help reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles.

Elements of Beauty: Rosehip oil * Avocado oil

Pure Plant Fragrance: Jasmine & sweet orange

Initial Impressions:  I have used Rosehip oil for a while now in a few different night-time oils and it’s a great anti-ageing product.  Mixing this with the Avocado oil, Jasmine and Sweet orange and it’s a lovely smelling, super rich oil that has been leaving my skin feeling amazing the morning after use.

Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream

img_1980.jpg

A gentle, light and non-oily facial day cream. Nutrient-rich avocado oil helps create a healthy, plumped visage to decrease the appearance of fine lines. Manuka flower oil, renowned for its health benefits, promotes the perfect, blemish-free complexion.

You can thank avocado oil’s high levels of plant compounds called phytosterols for transforming tired and stressed skin.

Elements of Beauty: Manuka flower oil * Avocado oil * Macadamia nut oil

Pure Plant Fragrance: Sweet almond.

Initial Impressions:  The day cream is much thicker than I am used to…there’s no other way to put it!  Unfortunately this texture isn’t one that really suits my skin, especially in the morning as I found it left my skin a bit tight.  I will continue using this so that I can form a proper opinion on it, but perhaps only in my evening routine.  As I always say though, what suits my skin may not suit yours and vice versa, I can only form my opinions on how I find the products on my skin.

I will post an update on all of these products soon!
