April Empties

I really need to start posting these at the end of the month I’m talking about the empties from rather than the end of the following month…I mean how did 22nd May happen already??

In other news, here’s the products that I used up in April…

REN 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

REN 3-in-1 Cleansing Water

This product was given to me in a re-run of an advent calendar…I will detail more on that in an upcoming post to explain but for now, this is the REN 3-in-1 Cleansing Water 50ml travel size.   Simple to use, removes makeup effectively, is paraben, fragrance and alcohol free which is all good news of course!

Would I repurchase?

I’m not really a ‘Miceallar Water’ cleanser regular user however I do use it from time to time if I have stubborn mascara or perhaps have got home stupidly late and want to quickly take my makeup off (I know, I know, skincare sinning to miss my routine but trust me, it’s not that often I get home late!!) Haha!  There are cheaper ones out there but at the same time I wouldn’t not buy this…in part because of the fact that it doesn’t contain fragrance and alcohol which can both irritate and dry skin out.

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

Clinique Pep-Start eye cream

I think I have mentioned this before in an empties post as I seem to have accumulated a few eye cream deluxe samples from Clinique with my gift with purchase offers!  I use this almost every day and find it to be a lovely, light eye cream.  It’s great for refreshing my undereye during the day also by just patting it on lightly.  I wouldn’t say it does anything in particular that you’d notice day to day but it is nice and hydrating which is my main undereye concern.

Would I repurchase?

I would.  I haven’t because I have another one of these on the go plus a few other eye creams to try out but yes I would.  A little goes a long way and even these trial size products last a while!

Clinique Moisture Surge Spray

Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray

This fine spray mist instantly hydrates and refreshes skin.  I love this all year round but in particular in the summer.  I use it in a few ways.  In my skincare routine I will sometimes use it as my first step of hydration so either after cleansing or after using an acid toner.  During the day as and when I feel I need it…or just as a simple ‘cool me down now’ spritz!!  Finally, I also use it to not necessarily ‘set’ makeup but to finish my makeup and perhaps take away any drier patches or perhaps if I have used powder, it helps to give my skin a bit of ‘life’ back!

Would I repurchase?

Yes! Definitely!  I haven’t yet as I have some miniature ones that I am using but this is on my list to buy again without a doubt!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

Originally created in 1974 for Audrey Hepburn, this was the world’s first pre-shampoo, conditioning hair treatment!  It claims to help reduce breakage and restore hair’s strength and stretchability.  I really like this but I don’t use it as often as I should as my hair feels so soft after using this.  I first tried this in the Marks & Spencer Beauty Advent calendar in 2016 and found I liked it back then!  (This is another tube, not the same one from 2016!!)

Would I repurchase?

Yes and I really should!

Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Lightweight Conditioning Spray

Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance

I’ve always liked this leave-in style conditioner as it works to detangle my hair but also smells amazing!  When I style my hair for a dance competition I always used to wash my hair in the shower, gel it then tie it back into a high and tight bun.  Some 16 hours later, removing that from my hair was all well and good but as my hair had stayed wet and close to my head I found I was suffering with headaches and I attributed to that (I can’t sleep with wet hair either as the same thing happens).  I have since changed how I do my competition hair styles and rather than washing it, I spray my hair with this conditioner because it allows me to comb my hair how I need it without soaking my hair and by the time it is in a bun, it isn’t wet.  When I remove my bun at the end of the day, my hair is soft and easy to brush out even with a ton of hairspray on!

Would I repurchase?

Yes!  Time and time again!

La Roche Posay Serozinc

La Roche Posay Serozinc

Another hydrating spray that has featured in my routine a lot and has also been part of a previous empties post so I guess there’s the answer about whether I would repurchase!  This is a toning mist spray that contains Zinc Sulphate which is helpful for oily and blemish prone skin.  I use this more in summer than winter again usually after cleansing or after acid toning but equally as good as a cooling spritz whenever I feel I need it.

Would I repurchase?

Yes, I will continue to repurchase this.  I tend to have a few hydrating sprays on the go so I would still buy this even though I have others.

Bare Minerals Prime Time & Diorskin Forever and Ever Wear Primer

I’ve purely grouped these two as they are essentially the same but different!  😛

I use a primer pretty much every time I wear foundation, unless of course I am in a hurry in which case, I’ll skip any step I can!

The Bare Minerals primer is a silicone based product which if you like the feel of those types of products then this is perfect.  I do like this primer because despite being silicone based I find it to be very lightweight as it is a gel-type of consistency rather than a very heavy, thick silicone as some primers I have tried are.  I personally find it does what it says and evens out my skin texture (large pores!) and my foundation glides over the top really well.  The Dior primer has a completely different texture altogether.  It is fluid, very lightweight and with the exception of the complexion correction, I can’t feel this sitting on my skin at all!  It evens out my skin brilliantly and works really well to extend the wear of my foundation.  I have tried this under a variety of foundations and found it to work well under all.

Would I repurchase?

I would actually repurchase both but so far have only bought the Dior primer again recently.  The Bare Minerals one is on a list of products I like and would buy again but not sure when!

The Ordinary, 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

The Ordinary Cold Pressed Rose Hip Oil

If you follow me on Instagram, you will see I am an avid fan of Deciem’s The Ordinary range!  This particular product is a favourite of mine and despite it’s ‘natural’ smell shall we say, I think it is a great product which is also super affordable!

Being cold-pressed, the process in producing this oil has retained the linoleic and linolenic acids and pro-vitamin A which would otherwise be degraded when subjected to a heating process.  This oil helps to reduce signs of ageing.  It is classed as a ‘daily support formula for all skin types’.  Personally I love this oil used on top of the Advanced Retinoid.  I only use 1 drop of this and find it is plenty for covering my face.  If there’s something to note about this oil it is that the only way I have found I can apply it is to pat it on.  Massaging it into the skin causes pilling no matter how little product I use.  Patting it on is absolutely fine.  This does of course mean it sits on the skin much longer but in honesty, I am not bothered by that…I am applying it and going to sleep!    Some people do also use a moisturiser over the top of this….I don’t but that is purely because I don’t feel my skin needs it.

Would I repurchase?

Definitely!  I love face oils and have a few that I am rotating at the moment…this is certainly one to re-buy now it has run out!

So that’s all for April…however May’s post will be arriving soon! Haha!

I used to use Elasticiser religiously years ago but one time I repurchased it and it just didn’t seem to work anymore. One of my drug store go-to’s is Aussie miracle shine shampoo and conditioner! Fab products.
