Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Finally!!  I decided at some point last year that I wanted this palette and it was at the point of it being sold out everywhere online that would deliver in the UK!  I registered back in December with Cult Beauty on their waiting list so that I would get an email when it came back into stock.   Here’s what happened!

January 2017 and my husband announced that for our Wedding Anniversary he had booked for us to go to New York so my first thought of course was makeup shopping there is going to require a savings pot!!  At that point I put myself on a makeup buying ban!  Cue Cult Beauty…..here’s an email…..it’s back in stock!   OMG!!  Talk about torture of the highest beauty level!

June 2017 came and we had to cancel the trip as I was awaiting seeing my Cardiologist so couldn’t be insured to fly….so….I allowed myself to cancel the makeup buying ban…with the promise that when I can rebook my flights, the ban would go back into place!

First thing to buy?  Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

I cannot even describe how excited I was when this arrived!  How beautiful is this?

The packaging is a pretty dusky pink felt with a magnet close, sturdily housing the 14 eyeshadows with a mix of matte and shimmer, light and dark, perfect for creating a whole look without needing to dip into other palettes!  It also contains the mirror and dual ended brush – which could be used for the whole look with a short, dense end for packing colour on and at the other end is a fluffy blending brush.

I of course had to try it out (immediately after posing it in various positions with various flowers and backgrounds to make sure I had enough Instagram shots!!)!

Facetune 8

These eyeshadows are super pigmented and are so soft, they blend beautifully.

The shades from left to right are:

Top:  Tempera, Golden Ochre, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter and Cyprus Umber

Bottom:  Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe and Realgar

On the swatch above the shades Tempera, Vermeer and Primavera don’t look like they are pigmented but that is purely down to the light….Tempera is a fabulous highlighting shade and the other two are pigmented shimmers.

This is probably the first palette where I’ve dipped in and tried most of the shades rather than my usual, buy a palette and use three!!

Here are some looks I’ve created using this palette.

I’m absolutely loving this eyeshadow palette and unlike some palettes I have tried I have nothing at all that is negative to say about it!   The eyeshadows are soft, blendable, pigmented, easy to work with and from my experience so far, don’t cause a fallout issue.  That said, I do not overload my brush which I think can be one major cause with fallout!

Was it worth the wait?  YES!  Without a doubt I am glad that I bought this palette.  At £41 for 14 shades at 0.7g each you can of course argue that there are cheaper palettes out there with more product in for your money…..but…..the texture, shade range, blendability, wearability and all round quality of this palette makes it definitely worth it to me!

Do you have this palette?  Was it a hit or miss for you?  I’d love to know! …… oh, and the makeup buying ban is back in place until October now!  😛

Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip – I hope everything is ok heath-wise.
I think it’s only fair that you allow yourself to buy makeup in place of the trip! 😉
I’ve tried some ABH single shadows and while the colours are gorgeous, I didn’t find they lasted well on my lids even with primer / base. But I’m in the minority since so many people love this palette!

Thank you. Yes all is ok….it turned out to be ‘just palpitations’ but as I have an existing heart murmur it was sensible of my GP have me see my Cardiologist to be on the safe side. I’ve rebooked it for October so I can get excited about going now! Wishlist is back in action!! 😛 Oh that’s a shame that you didn’t get on with them. I’ve only ever tried the palette so I can’t comment on the singles but it’s true that not everything works for everyone. Thanks for reading xx

With make up you always get what you pay for, especially with eyeshadows. It’s definitely the finer the milled the better. This palette is so gorgeous and the looks you’ve created with it are fab!! Like you say £41 but will last so long plus you get what you pay for in terms of quality.
    Great post as always.
    Xx 😘

Thank you. Yes totally worth the money and I’d buy it again for sure. Not sure I’ll be buying the new palette but purely because I’m not sure I’d get much use from the shade range but they’re on my radar for sure now!! xx

In honesty I couldn’t compare it! I’ve had quite a few Urban Decay palettes and it’s far better than those! They’re richer / creamier in texture if that makes sense. I’m not sure what they’d compare to having not really used other palettes then UD but to compare to UD they’re so much better (and I love UD!) lol xx
