What do you look for when reading/following other blogs?

I tend to look for blogs that either follow an interest of mine…makeup, skincare, dance etc, or just capture my attention for whatever reason.  Perhaps it is a writing style or I find the posts entertaining, I will still follow other sectors as the chances are I have found them via searching for an answer to something anyway.

Where do you like to be professionally/personally in 5 years time?

Professionally I would like to be a fully trained Makeup Artist!  Personally, I’d rather not even think as my children will be 19 and 16 so I’ve just aged myself even more!!! Haha!

Why did you choose to specialise in the subject that you’re currently blogging about?

I blog about beauty and ballroom & latin dancing.  This is because they are my passions, it’s that simple.  I talk a heck of a lot (I know, I know, so hard to believe right???) and I’m always talking about dancing, always talking about makeup, always talking about skincare….common denominator…..I’m always talking so it made sense to start a blog!

In what ways does your blog inspire those who read its posts?

In terms of beauty, I like to think I can inspire others to look at other routines, products, schools of thought, than those that they have at the moment.  Until I started reading blogs myself, I thought I knew what I was doing with my skincare, thought I was using the right makeup for me and so on.  Turns out I was stripping my skin and not using anything to protect it or do anything about ageing!  I’m no expert, but what I think I bring to my blog is just my experience and if that helps one more person find something that suits them, then great!!   Dancing is slightly different.  Dance is such an emotional rollercoaster of an ever evolving journey that I tend to put a lot of heart and emotion into those posts.  I know how it feels to be a beginner, how scary it is to be walking onto a grand dance floor to compete and how it feels to not be as successful as I’d like to be and I’d like to think that I can inspire others that are on similar journeys, or even at the start of their own.  In particular A letter to my younger ‘Dancing’ self struck a chord with readers and also friends who saw the post via Facebook.  Have a read if you haven’t already….I’d love to know what you think!

What do you think is your best trait?

My best trait….hmmmm…that’s difficult as I’m hyper-critical of myself so to label my best trait is probably a little difficult for me!  Probably perfectionism…but in the way that I always want to be better than I have been….I always do things to the best of my ability and always strive to do even more than that.

Would you consider video-blogging (if you don’t do it already)? If you do, list three things you love most about your vlog.

If I had more confidence then yes I would, and I have considered it before!   Hopefully I’ll do it one day!!

Mention three of your favourite bloggers/vloggers and explain your reasons why they inspire you.

I have to start with Caroline Hirons because it is thanks to her blog / vlog that my skin has changed so much!  Since reading her advice I have completely over-hauled my skincare (not by buying every product she mentions…..just making appropriate changes where needed), have a proper routine which involves really cleansing my skin but with products that are helping my skin, acids and serums that all in all have made my skin clearer, brighter and looking so much better than it did before.  On top of that her Instagram stories have me in stitches pretty much every single day!

The Beauty Spyglass is one of my favourites on both the blog and on Instagram.  Her photos on Instagram are so lovely and light and bright and her writing style keeps me reading.  Her personal stories are very inspiring too along with some amazing looking recipes that I really need to have a go at!!

Currently Lately Lifestyle Blogger is another fave of mine on both Instagram and blog.   Her blog again is interesting and keeps me reading.  She also posts a variety of beauty, blogging tips, goals and other lifestyle subjects so there’s something for everyone to read.

How would you know if you’ve ‘made it’?

Do we really ever “make it”?  Sure we all want to be the best….for some that’s making a lot of money, fame, recognition and for others it’s the knowledge they’re doing their best every day.  I could say I already have made it……I have an amazing husband, two beautiful children and a crazy dog!   It is impossible to compare other aspects of my life to my achievements as an individual, a wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend. My life is full because of everyone involved and my hobbies of dancing and blogging enrich me and consist of a journey rather than a destination.
