Face Mists – keeping cool in Summer heat!

The UK is finally having a heat wave……for how long, who knows, but being British wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t complain about how hot it is…..then how cold it is in winter….the poor weather cannot win!  We will complain!!

Whilst complaining however, skin must be given even more consideration.   Protection in the form of SPF from ageing sun damage and skin cancer, protection on the inside by drinking plenty of water, good for your body in general but amazing for your skin and also staying hydrated and cool from the outside is important.

I have mentioned my favourite SPF products already but incase you haven’t seen, check out my posts The Body Shop Skin Defence Review and 25 DAYS OF BLOGGING – COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS, Day 7  for my initial review of the Ultra Sun SPF30 Face lotion.  I am still using this and love it.

The products I wanted to shout about today are face mists.  Two from The Body Shop, one from La Roche Posay and one from Rodial.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Face Mist

This spray mist contains rosewater, vitamin E and wheatgerm oil.  It is a very light, fine spray that is lovely and soothing on the skin.  Hydrating and refreshing especially when applied on a hot day!!!

It is said that this is great for setting makeup.  Personally I don’t find any sprays help in setting my makeup but perhaps for some this would work.    I have used this on and off as it’s not something I have in my routine because I have other things that I use, but I find this is a great spritz for cooling and hydrating on hot days.

The other time that I use this is at a dance competition.  Although I don’t use it to set my makeup, some competitions are very hot venues and where this spray is so light I can spray it on as needed and it doesn’t interfere with my makeup!

The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Spritz

This spritz is wonderfully refreshing!!  It claims to be for dull, tired and grumpy skin….forget the skin….spraying this on a dull, tired, grumpy person on a hot day and my mood lifts instantly!! Haha!

Containing Vitamin C and Aloe Vera it smells divine with a refreshing citrus scent.  It isn’t as fine as the Vitamin E spray but on a hot day, this is amazing on the skin.  The only thing I would say is I’m not sure how this would fair on sensitive skin….purely because I had my eyebrows waxed at 2pm today…..which I forgot all about….until I sprayed this spritz all over my face….it soon reminded me as my eyebrows now feel like they’re on fire!  Generally speaking however this has never happened before….just don’t spray after having your eyebrows waxed!!!

La Roche Posay Serozinc

I use Serozinc in my morning routine.  I was using my Rodial Hyaluronic Tonic morning and night but my skin can be a bit hormonally temperamental around my chin and also slightly oily so after seeing this on YouTube, I thought I would give it a go!

Serozinc is a toning mist containing zinc sulphate designed to target oily and blemish prone skin and reduce shine.   It makes my skin feel really soft!  I have also spritzed this on over makeup and it does work to matify the skin!    I also sometimes reach for this during the day too, just as a quick spray which then helps to matify my skin if it’s gone oily and it’d lovely and refreshing.

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic

I use this spray as my moisturising toner in my evening routine.  The rose water and hyaluronic acid contained in this makes my skin feel soft, refreshed and prepped for serums.  It’s a lovely burst of hydration and very refreshing.

This is another mist that has a real ‘pick me up’ quality about it.  Containing Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin B3, Dragon’s blood, rose water and zinc, it is highly moisturising and soothing.  Although this is my evening toner for use after my acid toner, this is another one I can say is a refreshing burst any time of the day.

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic

I have mentioned before that I have oily / combination skin and I would recommend all four of these.  The Serozinc and Rodial are in my daily routine but can both be used for an instant hydrating and cooling boost.  The Body Shop sprays are not part of my routine but they are perfect travel size / handbag size and at the moment, during the UK heatwave, they are perfect for taking to work!   My tip would also be to store them in the fridge for a very cooling spray!!!

Do you have a favourite summer spritz?  Do you use any of the above sprays?  I’d love to know your thoughts.

I must pop in the Body shop and have a look at these, they both sound lovely. The citrus one is out in front for me in the ol’ Wish list!
The Rodial Dragon’s blood sounds like a Harry Potter potion! Interesting though.

Lily and I have been misting our faces with one I got in my LF box and then standing in front of our fan for extra cooling in this heat. Very enjoyable!
Lovely detailed post as always. 😘😘

    I love facial mists!
I have the Body Shop Vitamin E in my stash, haven’t opened it yet – can’t wait!
I had the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic a while back – it smells lovely!
Ooh every time I read about the La Roche Posay Serozinc, I get jealous because it’s not available here. I will get it online one of these days!

I live in Brisbane where it’s ridiculously hot and humid for most of the year so I live and die by the Vitamin E spray from The Body Shop! I also really like the Pixi Beauty spray, but it’s harder to get here 😢

I LOVE a good face mist. My skin is sensitive though and highly reactive, so I need to be careful with what I spray on it. I feel like Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic mist would work well on my skin. Lately, I’ve been loving Antipodes Resurrect Clarifying Facial Toner, it’s so soothing and cooling to the skin, and always calms any redness. I used it religiously for a week after I had my face threaded (which my skin did NOT like at all LOL). Great post!

Thanks for reading! Yeah my sister has to be really careful with what she uses too as she reacts to everything! The Dragon’s Blood toner is quite gentle but I’d maybe avoid the cleansing water if you’ve ever thought to try it….I could be speaking out of turn as I don’t have sensitive skin but even I find it has a little kick to it! xx
