April Empties

Facetune

I thought I would actually write about the products I have used up this month….before we are half way through next month!

PUR Correcting Primer

Although this PUR Correcting Primer is only a 10ml sample size it has lasted for quite a few uses as a little goes a long way.  I received this product in my M&S Beauty Advent calendar and it sits really well under all of the foundations that I use, liquid, mineral and powder.  It’s oil-free, silicone-free and paraben-free.

Neutralize the look of dark circles, age spots, freckles and uneven skin tone with color-perfecting ingredients. The first oil-free, silicone-free primer of its kind, our mattifying primer features a clarifying blend of salicylic acid, calming lavender extract and our proprietary Ceretin Complex in a soft periwinkle hue that offsets the look of blemishes.    M&S Website

Would I repurchase?

Yes!  I won’t be doing so just yet as I was quite pleased when this ran out as it gave me the perfect excuse to try a new primer….watch this space for more info on that one as I will be reviewing it soon!  I can however recommend this primer and I am sure I will end up repurchasing at some point.

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water

I was desperate to try this cleansing water as I was a fan of micellar cleansing water and was already placing an order with Rodial for their Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Mist which I love.  There was a 30% off discount which of course tempted me to buy more!  At £33 for 200ml this is a particularly expensive cleansing water in my opinion hence the discount offer being tempting given I had been wanting to try it!  With Rose Water, Vitamin B3, Hyaluronic Acid and Dragon’s Blood, this cleansing water is great for soothing, refreshing, brightening and hydrating the skin.  When I used this I have to admit, I wasn’t sure if I liked it as there was a real tingling sensation to my skin that I wasn’t expecting from a cleansing water.  That said, it did make my skin feel clean, clear and it looked somewhat brighter.

Would I repurchase?

I actually have another bottle as at the time there was some other kind of offer on so I have just opened the second bottle.  I am not sure this is a product that I would say I need in my routine any more…just as with micellar water, I haven’t used that for so long. This is purely down to a change in my skin care routine with cleansing with oils so not only do I prefer what I am using now, I actually enjoy using oils on my skin.  There are however two main times I use this.  One is when I have been out till very late and come home so tired that I feel it’s an effort to remove my makeup (ssshhhhhh don’t tell anyone!) but I cannot sleep in makeup! (AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU!!)  so that is when I find this product useful as it really does clean my skin.  The other time I use it is if I am running in the morning.  I have recently started running in Parkrun events at 9am on a Saturday morning so when I wake up, I use the cleansing water and apply a little facial oil and then do my usual skincare routine when I return from the run and have my shower.

Pixi Glow Tonic

This doesn’t even really need an introduction if you’ve read many of my previous posts as I go on about this product quite a lot when I talk about my new skincare changes.  This is a must in my routine morning and night and I love the effect it has had on my skin.  If you want to know more about this product take a look at my post Pixi Glow Tonic….a review 🙂

Would I repurchase

Hell yes!  I was given this bottle kindly by a friend who hadn’t noticed a difference in her skin…lets face it (excuse the pun!) not every product will suit or work for every skin.  I am about to repurchase this as I have been using a travel size version of it which I’m almost out of now too!  Great product for an introduction to acids.

Facetune 2

The Ordinary Serums

I have recently posted about these serums in The Ordinary Skincare so take a look there to read my thoughts on these little bottles.  I first used these at the beginning of February so they have lasted me 3 months!  My skin since using these products, along with other changes in my routine, has felt clearer, more hydrated and generally much healthier!

Would I repurchase?

Already have!  I am also awaiting an order of a couple of other products from The Ordinary so again…watch this space!

Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel

Personally, I have saved the best for last on this empties post…..the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel is something that I had heard about but was maybe scared to try because like many people, I thought that using acids was quite a daunting thing to do!  Having only started using a comparably weak acid relatively recently, I wasn’t sure how my skin may react to something that appears to be pretty strong!  On a recent trip to Space NK I was given a sample of this peel which is 2 packets each containing a wipe.   After cleansing my skin, I took the wipe from step 1 and used it on my face until it was dry.  I waited for two minutes then used step 2 in the same way.   After using this I sent a text to a friend with a photo of the packets saying ‘OMG next time you’re in Space NK get a sample of this….holy s**t my skin feels like I’ve taken a sandblaster to it in a good way!  I haven’t put a serum on yet but my skin feels stupidly smooth!!’ It really is that good!

Developed by Dr Gross as an at-home, safe and effective way to improve the skin on a daily basis, the Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel solves most skincare concerns. The two-step, patented system provides a precise blend of alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids to improve skin’s tone, texture and clarity, plus moisturizers, green tea extract, and antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E to leave skin soothed, balanced and protected.

Would I repurchase?

With a £73.50 price tag for 30pads this is not something I can be using on a daily basis!!  However….I do think that I have to invest in my skin and at some point I’d like to treat myself to this….I still wouldn’t use it on a daily basis but it’s the kind of thing that would be amazing as a weekly treat!  If cost was no issue then I’d be buying it now and using it a few times a week, I loved it!

Have you used any of these products?  What did you think of them?

I just picked up the Pixi Glow Tonic – fingers crossed I love it as much as you do! 🙂
I’ve got The Ordinary “Buffet” serum on my list to pick up.
My friend swears by the Dr Dennis Gross Peels but I find it so wasteful they’re in those individual packs – I guess they’re handy for travel.
    Great empties!

Thanks for reading! I’d love to know what you think of the glow tonic as it is raved about but I do know a couple of people who don’t rate it…I obviously do!! Buffet is a lovely serum, I’m glad I tried it.
The peel pads do seem wasteful I agree in terms of packaging. I guess they’re fresher in packets and definitely great idea for travel! Xx

You are very right, you do have to invest in your skin – not just in time and energy, but with money too. Lots of products do have affordable alternatives but if you’ve found something that really improves your skin, you should stick with it. Unfortunately as beauty reviews go, it doesn’t work out that we can’t stick to the products we love.

I’m really excited to try out that Pixi tonic as I’ve seen it everywhere. I’ve never heard about the rodail cleansing water but it sounds a lot better than the one I’m using!

I’ve heard a lot of hype around the ordinary products so those are on my list of next to purchase!
I love that you include a would I repurchase section! It really helps when I want to know if the product is worthwhile or not! Great post!

Thank you! Yeah I’d rather be honest about whether I’d but it again but also why. Some expensive products are so good so it’s worth noting I would buy again if cost was no object etc. if something is affordable to me or expensive to me doesn’t make it the case for someone else so I like to let you know 😋 thanks for reading x

Thanks for reading. The glow tonic is lovely. I do know a couple of people who have said they didn’t notice a difference but as with all skin care it will work for some and not others. What serums did you buy? Xx
