February Empties!

If you’ve not heard already…I am on a makeup buying ban until June!  Yes, June and yes, we are currently in March so I’m thinking I’m doing pretty well!!  At the end of January, my hubby surprised me with details of a break to New York for our 15th Wedding Anniversary in June so from that point I decided to not buy any more makeup other than to replace something that I run out of!!  One thing this has meant is that I need to be using up what I have, which is working out really well!  This month’s ’empties’ are however mostly skincare so here goes….

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm….unless you’re new to my blog you’ll have probably read before that I rave about this cleanser…I absolutely love it!  I have detailed it in another blog so please have a read HERE!  The sample size that I received in my beauty advent calendar lasted me a lot longer than I thought it was so I did end up treating myself to the full size as it was on offer in Marks & Spencer!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam……I really liked this cleanser…although at the moment I think it is a little too drying for me.  I do think this is one that I would buy again, but perhaps in the summer months when my skin is usually pretty oily. It leaves my skin feeling really soft, smooth and clean.  It was a great second cleanse for after I had removed my makeup with the Take the day off Balm.

Clinique All About Eyes.….This is a lovely little moisturiser for img_8076the whole eye area which I love because when I’ve been wearing heavy eye makeup, my eyelids can be quite dry.  My undereye is already dry and this little pot gives a decent amount of moisture.  I have repurchased this quite a few times now and the only reason that I have stopped for now is that I’ve stepped my eye cream up a little so it is more for lines.  All About Eyes is great for puffiness and dark circles but my main concern is fine lines now so I have moved onto Clinique’s Repairwear Laser Focus Eye cream which is lovely too…..review will follow when I’ve used it for a while 🙂

img_7799Another eye product that I have used up this month is another Clinique one….Pep Start.   I have had this deluxe sample size for quite some time now and have just used it every now and again.  In honesty, it’s a nice eye cream, refreshing but for me that’s as far as it goes.  I don’t think I would buy it because I didn’t find it did enough for me.  That said, I do have another sample size unopened which I will use ….. it’s just not one I would say is the best for my dry / fine line concerns.  This size despite being a sample lasted ages anyway as you only need a tiny bit!  When I bought my more recent eye cream, the lady on the Clinique counter did say to pop it in my handbag and use as a pick me up during the day over makeup so I’ll be giving that a go 🙂

I have lots of sample size products, packets of creams, tubes of serums etc and I am a IMG_7786.jpgnightmare for just chucking them in a draw and not thinking to use them!  Whilst we are talking eye creams, this packet sample of Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Eye Rescue cream was lovely!  I am really hesitant to spend alot of money on eye creams as they profess all sorts and so many just don’t deliver!  My pet hate with eye creams is with ones that don’t sit well under makeup and cause concealer to roll even if I have only used a tiny bit of cream and left it to sink in for ages!  This one however I decided to use one night when I was using some other ‘treat’ type of skincare product and I have to say I was really impressed.  It felt highly moisturising on my dry under eye and the next morning my eye area felt so smooth and soft and very hydrated which is quite unusual for me!  I currently have a refund sat on account with Charlotte Tilbury thanks to a product return so I am very tempted to buy this and use it as a night time eye cream as it felt really good on the skin.  I am not sure how it would sit under makeup but in honesty, as I already have a day time cream that I am happy with, I wouldn’t be bothered if it was just a night time treat 🙂

Another sample size that I used up this month was theimg_7103 Younique Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation so have a read of that review.
As I said in that review, I would purchase this but I will be waiting until my makeup buying ban is lifted after my trip in June 🙂

This tiny sample pot lasted me around 4 applications which I was amazed at….this really does go by the whole ‘less is more’ or ‘a little goes a long way’ speeches!
img_8118Lastly, I thought I’d include a body care product which is something I haven’t really spoken much about on my blog but I was in love with this!

Molton Brown Templetree body wash….I was given this and another one for my birthday in November and they both smelt amazing and left my skin feeling lovely.  I think the other one is the Suma Gensing body wash but I forgot to take a snap of it before I put the empty in the bin.  This is definitely something I will be buying!!   These were miniature sizes but they lasted me a good few showers!

That’s all for this month…well last month anyway!

A makeup buying ban! I think I need that one. Though I don’t really splurge, that’s gonna be a really nice sacrifice for the whole Lent season.
By the way, all these products seem really good. It’a nice when you liked a sample and bought a full sized version of it.

Thanks for reading! Yeah I don’t tend to do massive hauls or anything but I buy too much makeup generally then don’t use it so thought it’d be a good thing to do….plus saves the money to do a haul in Sephora where I’ve never been 😂 xx

Wow shopping ban is very tempting and much needed for me but at the same time very tough to go on. You have a lot of self discipline 👍🏻Good luck to you.

Oh my god a spending ban until June!! I don’t think I’d ever last that long – though with that being said I’ve told myself not to purchase any more skincare until I use up at least half of what I have left over from Christmas time. I’m currently overrun with Soap&Glory goodies haha! Lovely post chick!

Haha! Thanks!! Yeah mostly makeup but I’m trying not to spend much on skincare either. I’ve bought 2 new cleansers but I’m using them both every day so I’ve bought nothing to ‘stockpile’ that’s for sure! So many things I want though!!! My list for Sephora is so big I think I’ll need a bank loan for my trip 😂😂 xx

Good luck on your spending ban! I seriously need to implement one of those haha, but I think I’ve been pretty good lately at not buying makeup frivolously! I’m bad with sachet samples too but I’ve been trying to make more of an effort to use them!
