Pixi Glow Tonic….a review :)

IMG_6674.jpg

I had my eye on this exfoliating toner by Pixi for a while.  Like with all products that I want to try, I researched it, watched YouTube video reviews, read blogs etc and thought I probably needed to wait until my current toner runs out (Clinique Step 2) as that’s an exfoliating one also.

Wanting to know if anyone I knew had tried it, I texted a fellow beauty-addict and she said not to buy it as she had some and although it wasn’t bad, it was nothing special in her opinion so I could have hers.

For those who don’t know much about this toner, it contains Glycolic Acid to exfoliate and purify the skin, Ginseng to improve circulation and energise and Aloe Vera to hydrate and soothe the skin.

The claims are that it refines the appearance of pores, accelerates skin renewal by gentle exfoliation to give a brighter, more glowing complexion and balances and soothes the skin.  It is Alcohol free so it isn’t drying on the skin, and unless I’ve missed something on the ingredients, I believe this is also paraben free.

I really wanted to try this toner but I am still using my Clinique one…..so I added it into my daily routine by swapping it in my night-time routine by only using my Clinique one in the morning and this at night.

Being an acid I expected this to sting slightly but it didn’t.  I don’t have sensitive skin but have found some exfoliating products to have an initial sensation to them.    I first cleansed my skin with my usual Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean cleanser, then applied the Glow Tonic on a cotton wool pad, sweeping it over my face avoiding my eye area.  After using it my skin felt really smooth and fresh which I love in a skin care product and it didn’t feel at all like it had dried my skin out.  I then followed this with the rest of my skin care, which I will be posting a blog about my new routine soon.

Having used this for a few weeks now, only at night time (and not on the same nights as using my Liquid Gold or any other exfoliator)….I have noticed an improvement in my skin.  I usually have large open pores on my nose that I can feel if I run my finger across my nose and cheeks….after adding this into my routine I have noticed a massive improvement and the whole area feels much smoother and clearer.  I have made other slight changes in my skincare routine so it’s possibly not all down to this toner but my assumption based on how my skin feels on application I think this deserves some credit!

My skin type as mentioned before is oily/combination so I can recommend this product for that skin type.

After this review its sounding more and more appealing. I haven’t found a toner that I love and have stuck with just yet but I wouldn’t mind adding this one to the list to try out!

Thank you for reading! Since I wrote this, I now use it twice a day (just not when using my Liquid Gold or my Nip & Fab pads which are only every now and again)…but my general acid toner is now this twice a day and I’m loving it. 🙂 x
