My Pre-tan prep!

Ballroom and Latin dancing requires a certain image on the dance floor, which I have previously mentioned in a post about It’s the Finals countdown!!!!

The hair, makeup, crystals, dresses and so on….but this all starts in the week prior to the competition day with the fake tan!

Over the last 7 years, I have tried a few different tans, Fake Bake, Sienna X, Zen-Tan and now Tan Truth.  I’ve applied it myself, had it applied as a lotion and had it sprayed on (which is blooming freeeeeezing!!!).  My favourite tan that I was having sprayed was Sienna X, but as the lovely lady who did them for me gave up tanning I found another lovely lady but she uses Tan Truth…..which for me, works just as well as the Sienna did, if anything it wears off my skin more evenly than any other brand…but everyone is different.

Regardless of all of this, the pre-tan prep for me is the same every time.

I make sure all waxing / shaving is done 48 hours before my tan, and generally speaking I am terrible for using body scrubs regularly and have a panic a couple of day before a tan that my knees, elbows, ankles etc are rough and tan will stick and omg I need to scrub the hell out of them….you get the idea!

I have however, become quite good at this and try to have a routine generally and not just when I am having my tan done, which no doubt also affects not only how the tan adheres and colour takes to my skin, but also how evenly it wears off afterwards.  As a minimum, I will have a routine going for a couple of weeks prior to my tan (I only have about 5 or 6 a year)

IMG_6271.jpgI use all kinds of shower gels, creams and so on, but one of my faves at the mo is the Spa Sanctuary Shower Mousse which contains Orange Oil, Vitamin E and Vitamin B5 and it leaves my skin super soft and it smells amazing!

I either use my exfoliating gloves with whatever shower gel I am using, or I use the Sugar Crush Body Scrub from Soap and Glory.  It contains brown sugar, lime, almond oil and macadamia grains.  It’s quite a coarse scrub where I may use my gloves a few times a week, this scrub is something I would only use once or twice a week as I don’t feel my skin needs more than that.  After using, my skin feels gloriously soft!  This too smells devine!

Once the competition day is out of the way, my tan tends to last me a few more days and depending on how dark I’ve decided to go, what time of year it is (I’m usually really pale so to be really tanned in January doesn’t really look right on me!!!) and also how evenly it is wearing off, I will use this scrub to get rid of the tan when I want it gone.  If it is wearing off evenly, I will let it just fade, otherwise, this scrub works really well.

I can highly recommend both of these products, the shower mousse generally day-to-day for softer skin, but the scrub for that weekly or twice weekly exfoliation.
